Cure For Sweaty Hands
There are many different ways and no single cure for sweaty hands. This means that you can find a treatment that is suited to you.
Sweaty hands is a particularly embarrassing and annoying form of hyperhidrosis because hands are used frequently in socia situations. For instance, shaking hands when meeting someone, passing objects from person to person, handling paper and other objects.
Here are some of the things that you can try to help yourself:
Clinical Antiperspirant
You can try an extra strong roll-on that your doctor can prescribe. One common brand is Drysol.
Like a regular roll-on, the active ingredient is aluminium chloride but the concentration is far higher. This means that you only need apply it once per week although there could be some minor side effects such as itching or burning.
Iontophoresis
This is a method where you place your hands into a shallow bath or tray full of tap water. A low voltage current is applied and you should remain in place for approximately 20 minutes.
Around 3 sessions of iontophoresis can block the sweat ducts in your hands for up to 3 weeks.
Diet
You should try these first before any more advanced treatment. Cut caffeine and any other stimulants out of your diet. Increase your dietary intake of fruit and vegetables and decrease your intake of meat products.
Surgery
This is an absolute last resort and not one that I recommend. There is a lot of misinformation about this technique – for instance, this article says that it is 99% effective for sweaty hands (palmar hyperhidrosis).
This is definitely not the case. The surgery is not always effective and many people report severe side effects.
