Treatment For Sweaty Hands

There is no single treatment for sweaty hands, there are many to choose from depending on your own situation.

Medical Grade Antiperspirant

This is the easiest place to start. If you see your doctor then he can prescribe you an extra strong roll-on which you may only need to apply once per week.

It is not like anything you can get in the stores and much stronger due to a higher concentration of aluminium chloride which blocks the sweat ducts.

Apply it last thing at night and dry it off with a hair dryer or fan for best results. Then wash it off first thing in the morning.

A few people complain of a slight burning or itching sensation.

Iontophoresis

This is a very popular treatment for sweaty hands. It involves submerging your hands, palms facing down, into a shallow tray filled with tap water.

2 electrodes are also submerged into the water and a very low electric current is passed.

No one really understands this fully but the electrolysis treatment seems to block the ducts for about 2 weeks after a typical 20 minute session. You can also get a better result if you replace the tap water with a glycopyrrolate solution.

If you find that you like this treatment and your body responds well then you may even consider purchasing your own machine – one popular model is the Fischer MD-1a.

Botox

Botox is actually a brand name for what is really botulinum toxin. In large doses it can kill a man but in extremely small doses it has many medical applications and not just cosmetic ones.

It is best used on the underarms but it can also be used for the hands. Make sure you find yourself a skilled and experienced doctor if you decide to go this route because too much Botox can actually interfere with your basic hand motor coordination for many months which could be disastrous.

The results are excellent and you can completely stop sweating for around six months. However, the only problem is with the cost and due to the sheer number of shots required you are looking at somewhere around $3,000 to $5,000 for the treatment.

Surgery

Surgery should only be considered an absolute last resort and I do not recommend it.

One type is liposuction-curettage. I have never heard of it being used for the hands but you can read more about it here: Liposuction – Curettage.

The other is ETS surgery. I highly recommend against this type of surgery, however if you want to know more about it then I have written about it on this site here: Endoscopic Thoracic Sympathectomy (ETS).

Natural Treatments

Finally, there are many treatments which you will never hear the medical establishment talk about. This is because the world of medicine is focussed on treating symptoms and the money associated with it. You never hear about the medical industry investing billions of dollars into preventative healthcare and natural cures do you?
