Types Of Hyperhidrosis
There are 2 main types of hyperhidrosis. Primary hyperhidrosis and secondary hyperhidrosis.
Primary Hyperhidrosis
This is the type of excessive sweating without a directly known cause. Often, this runs in families and can be passed to children although not with 100% certainty. This is the most common type.
It usually results in excessive sweating in the face, hands, feet and armpits. Although it can start at any age, it commonly starts in adolescence.

This is excessive sweating that is actually caused by another condition. The characteristic difference is that excessive sweating tends to occur all over the body and even at night. For the few people that suffer from this, possible causes are side effects from medication, thyroid or pituitary gland problems, diabetes, cancer, menopause, drug withdrawal and many more.
Less commonly, there are some cases of secondary hyperhidrosis that are localised.
If you suffer from excessive sweating then it is best to speak to your doctor who can diagnose which type of hyperhidrosis you are suffering from.
